Post 3: Sick Day
So we are going on day 2 of the flu, and I figured since I haven’t left the bed in the last 24 hours, now would be a GREAT time to blog!
First, big ups to my wife/co-owner, Jennifer. She is not only keeping the family running smoothly, but she is doing it with a whiny, sniffling, achy husband dragging her down. She is a rockstar, and I am so glad to have her in my life.
Second, special thanks to Chris and Cory for keeping T-Shirt Robot running smoothly! They have been handling their bizness without me there to look over everyone’s shoulders, and they are producing some absolutely spectacular custom screenprinted t-shirts, hoodies, and more!
Running a business is not easy, its kind of like running a large family! We have mouths to feed, we have to maintain a sense of structure(even in times where one of us gets laid out with the flu), and we have to keep everyone focused on the greater goal. In the case of T-Shirt Robot, the greater goal is not just providing the good people of Traverse City, and Michigan, and beyond, a vastly superior product with a level of creativity, consistancy, and customer service absolutely unmatched by “the bigger guys”, but we are pioneering!
For example, for years I have been asking for and paying for glow in the dark ink on products for customers that requested it, and for years I have held these shirts under a light and saw nothing that glowed. Excuse after excuse, “when you mix the glow with ink, it tones down the effect.” So we set out to create a new method to apply the additive to get a true glow effect.
And let’s just say the results were SPECTACULAR!
Just look at that glow! When we turned the lights off, you could use this thing like a flashlight! For years, I was asking the bigger shops to make this work, and not until the Screenprint Scientists at T-Shirt Robot got their hands on it, did I finally get the results I was looking for!
And thats just what we do, because we love what we do. When you walk into our dingy little shop, the first thing you will notice is everyone is happy, music is playing, people are smiling.
And glow in the dark ink is just the beginning! We are experimenting with weird inks that react to water, we are experimenting with softhand additives that give your shirts an incredibly light and luxurious feel, while still popping, and most of all, we are creating systems to allow us to print your shirts the same color, feel, and placement time after time, which believe it or not, is not the norm! Basically, T-Shirt Robot is Traverse City’s smallest printing company, but we are aiming to be the most inventive, the happiest, the most fun, and the highest quality print shop in Northern Michigan!
